Collection: Dirt | Soil

Selecting the proper flower arrangement and overlay for your garden is only half the battle. The composition of your soil will ultimately dictate the success or failure of your flowerbeds and the rate in which they grow. It is important to use a soil that is rich with nutrients so that your plants can thrive throughout the growing season.

Soils have different purposes than one another, and they should be applied according to the task at hand. We supply the soils that we feel will best suit your needs for any project that you may take on.

If you were laying new sod or topdressing an existing portion of your lawn, ideally you would use our #1 topsoil. We would suggest between 2 – 4 inches of topsoil be applied prior to laying your sod to ensure that there is sufficient area for your new grass to root. Our topsoil’s are enriched with nutrients and will help the new grass grow the way you would expect and hope for.

Our garden mix and triple mix products should be used specifically in your flowerbeds. Much like the #1 topsoil, the garden mix and triple mix will help your garden grow and look its best. When updating or topdressing your gardens, ensure that you use the best available soil so your plants and flowers grow to the standards you would hope for.

Mushroom compost is a great addition to the garden soil.  Our mushroom compost is a component in our garden/triple mix product, but is also sold as a separate product.  This is a great option for organic growers! Mushroom compost should be used with caution at a 3:1 ratio with a garden soil to balance out the high soluble salt levels within it.  However, the benefits of mushroom compost far outweigh the downside of high salt levels.  It enriches the soil and supplies nutrients for the healthy growth of plants and increases the water-holding capacity of the soil, which decreases your watering needs.
